International Weight Watchers has been around for a long time now and has proved to be a hugely successful commercial diet program that revolves around a balance of low fat nutrition, exercise and counseling.

As if this were not enough, Weight Watchers produce their own line of meals that you can purchase at a number of the larger grocery chains.

A points value is allotted to a variety of foods according to the portion size, the calories that portion contains, the quantity of fiber and the quantity of fat contained in every serving. In general, high fat foods have a high points value and high fiber foods have a low points value. The daily allowance for dieters then depends upon things like body weight and amount of weight loss he or she wishes to achieve.

The formula used to calculate a points score is as follows:

Where: p = Points | c = Calories | f = Fat Grams | r = Dietary fiber Grams

(Please note: in the term (min{r, 4}) no more than 4 grams of fiber are used in the calculation. For instance, if the actual dietary figure is under 4 then this figure is used, however, where the figure is greater than 4 then 4 is used.
