Weight Watchers Recipes With Point Values
Weight Watchers has been about for many years and is a very successful diet program which focuses on a balance of exercise, low fat nutrition and guidance.
Food is allotted a points value and members then use a points calculator and hundreds of great recipes which are provided by the program. Participants are also encouraged to attend counseling session in their home area for advice and ideas and to assist with the lifestyle changes which accompany not just this but any diet plan. Members also have access to online support together with online calculators and menus.
To further assist members, Weight Watchers produce their own range of meals which can be bought at many of the larger grocery chains.
A points value is allocated to a variety of foods according to the size of the portion, the calories that portion contains, the amount of fiber and the amount of fat in every serving. As a rule, foods which are high in fat have a high points value and foods which are high in fiber have a low points value. The daily allowance for dieters then depends upon things like body weight and the desired weight loss.
The formula used to calculate a points score is:

Where: p = Points | c = Calories | f = Fat Grams | r = Dietary fiber Grams
(Please note: when considering the term (min{r, 4}) no more than 4 grams of fiber are used in the calculation. For example, if the actual figure is lower than 4 this figure is used, but, if the figure is greater than 4 then 4 is used.
Here are a few examples of the points scores given to particular foods:
| Food | Calories | Fat (g) | Carbohydrates | Fiber | Points |
| Corn on the cob | 140 | 2 | 34 | 2 | 3 |
Low-fat Asian chicken salad | 714 | 9 | 121 | 9.6 | 14 |
| Medium Fries | 450 | 22 | 57 | 5 | 10 |
| Cheeseburger | 330 | 14 | 35 | 2 | 7 |
