Weight Watchers has been about for a long time and has proved to be an incredibly successful diet program which centers on balancing exercise, low fat nutrition and counseling.

A points score is assigned to a variety of foods based upon the portion size, the calories that portion contains, the amount of fiber and the amount of fat in each serving. In general, foods which are high in fat will have a high points score and high fiber foods will have a low points score. A dieter's daily allowance then depends upon things like body weight and target weight.

The points formula is:

Where: p = Points | c = Calories | f = Fat Grams | r = Dietary fiber Grams

(Note: in the term (min{r, 4}) no more than 4 grams of fiber are used in the calculation. In other words, if the actual figure is less than 4 then this figure is used, however, where the figure is more than 4 then 4 is used.
