Weight Watchers Points Sytem
Weight Watchers has been with us for many years now and has proved to be an incredibly successful diet program which concentrates on a balance of low fat nutrition, exercise and guidance.
Items of food are allotted a points value and Weight Watchers members then use a points calculator and recipes that are provided by the program. Members also attend counseling session in their local area to get both advice and ideas and to assist with the lifestyle changes which go along with not just this but any diet plan. Members also have access to online support and online menus and points calculators.
As if this were not enough, Weight Watchers produce their own line of meals which you can buy through a lot of the bigger grocery chains.
A points value is allotted to various foods based upon the size of the portion, the number of calories, the quantity of fiber and the amount of fat in every serving. As a rule, high fat foods have a high points value and foods which are high in fiber have a low points value. The daily allowance for dieters then depends on things like his or her body weight and how much weight he or she wants to lose.
The formula for calculating a points value is as follows:

Where: p = Points | c = Calories | f = Fat Grams | r = Dietary fiber Grams
(Please note: when considering the term (min{r, 4}) a maximum of 4 grams of fiber are used in the calculation. For instance, if the actual dietary figure is under 4 then this figure is used, however, where the figure is greater than 4 then 4 is used.
Here we have given a few examples of the points values assigned to particular foods:
| Food | Calories | Fat (g) | Carbohydrates | Fiber | Points |
| Cheeseburger | 330 | 14 | 35 | 2 | 7 |
Quarter Pounder with cheese | 430 | 30 | 38 | 2 | 13 |
| Big Mac | 590 | 34 | 47 | 3 | 14 |

The Truth About Weight Loss and How to Succeed Anyway The reason dieting is so popular is because it doesn't work. If it worked people would only do it once. But they don't, they diet again and again and again. The reason is that Weight Loss is an industry and an industry needs to keep its customers. They do this by doing two things. They allow enough of you to be successful in the short term so they can use these successes to 'prove' it works. The other is that when you fail, they convince you that it was your fault. You didn't stick to the diet. They maintain two myths. The first is that if you do more of something that doesn't work then it will eventually work. The second is that if something isn't working it's because you aren't doing it properly.
