Weight Watchers Make It in Minutes:
Easy Recipes in 15, 20, and 30 Minutes

Weight Watchers has been around for many years and has proved itself to be a fabulously successful commercial diet program which focuses on a balance of low fat nutrition, exercise and counseling.

Food items are given a points score and members use a points calculator and hundreds of great recipes which are provided by the program.

Participants also attend counseling session in their home area for advice and ideas and to help with the changes in lifestyle which accompany any dieting program. There is also online support as well as online calculators and menus.

As well, Weight Watchers make their own line of meals that you can get through many of the bigger grocery chains.

A points score is allotted to various foods based upon the portion size, the number of calories, the amount of fiber and the amount of fat in each serving. Generally speaking, high fat foods will have a high points score and foods which are high in fiber will have a low points score. A dieter's daily allowance is then dependent upon such things as his or her body weight and how much weight he or she wants to lose.

The formula for calculating a points value is:

weight watchers formula

Where: p = Points | c = Calories | f = Fat Grams | r = Dietary fiber Grams

(Note: in the term (min{r, 4}) a maximum of 4 grams of fiber are used in the calculation. For example, if the actual figure is under 4 then this figure is used, however, where the figure is over 4 then 4 is used.

Here you can see some examples of the points given to particular foods:
