Weight Watchers Point Value At RestaurantsWeight Watchers has been around for many years now and has proved itself to be a fabulously successful commercial diet program that focuses on a balance of low fat nutrition, exercise and guidance. Different foods are given a points score and members then make use of a points calculator and hundreds of great recipes which are provided by the program. Members also attend counseling sessions locally for ideas and advice and to assist with the lifestyle changes that go along with any diet plan. Members are also provided with online support and online menus and points calculators. To further help participants, Weight Watchers make their own line of meals which may be purchased at a number of the larger grocery chains. A points score is allocated to a variety of foods according to the size of the portion, the calories that portion contains, the amount of fiber and the quantity of fat contained in every serving. As a general rule, foods which are high in fat will have a high points score and foods which are high in fiber will have a low points score. The daily allowance for dieters then depends on things like body weight and amount of weight loss he or she wishes to achieve. The formula for calculating a points value is as follows:
Where: p = Points | c = Calories | f = Fat Grams | r = Dietary fiber Grams (Please note: when considering the term (min{r, 4}) no more than 4 grams of fiber are used in the calculation. For instance, if the actual figure is lower than 4 this figure is used, however, if the figure is greater than 4 then 4 is used. Below are just some examples of the points assigned to particular foods:
