International Weight Watchers has been about for many years now and has proved to be a hugely successful commercial diet program which centers on balancing low fat nutrition, exercise and counseling.
Food is given a points value and Weight Watchers members make use of a points calculator and recipes that are provided by the program. Participants are also encouraged to attend counseling session in their home area for advice and ideas and to help with the changes in lifestyle which accompany any diet program. Members are also provided with online support as well as online points calculators and menus.
As if this were not enough, Weight Watchers make their own line of meals that you can get at many of the larger grocery chains.
A points value is allotted to foods according to the size of the portion, the calories that portion contains, the quantity of fiber and the amount of fat in each serving. As a rule, high fat foods have a high points value and foods which are high in fiber have a low points value. A dieter's daily allowance then depends upon things like his or her body weight and amount of weight loss he or she wishes to achieve.
The points formula is:

Where: p = Points | c = Calories | f = Fat Grams | r = Dietary fiber Grams
(Please note: in the term (min{r, 4}) a maximum of 4 grams of fiber are used in the calculation. In other words, if the actual dietary figure is lower than 4 this figure is used, however, if the figure is more than 4 then 4 is used.
