weight watchers

the weight watchers plan. Weight Watchers has been part of our lives for many years now and is a hugely successful commercial diet program that focuses on a balance of low fat nutrition, counseling and exercise.
|
Food items are given a points value and members use recipes and a points "calculator" provided by the program.
Members are further encouraged to go to counseling sessions held locally for ideas and advice and to assist with the changes in lifestyle which accompany any diet program. Support is also provided online, as well as online calculators, menus and recipes.
Furthermore, Weight Watchers have their own line of meals which can be bought through many larger grocery chains.
A points value is assigned to foods based upon the amount of fiber, the quantity of fat, the number of calories and the size of the portion in each serving. In general, foods that are high in fat have a high points value and foods that are high in fiber have a low points value. The daily allowance for dieters is then dependent upon such things as body weight and the desired weight loss.
The points formula is as follows:

Where: p = Points | c = Calories | f = Fat Grams | r = Dietary fiber Grams
(Note: in the term (minr, 4) a maximum of 4 grams of fiber is used in the calculation. In other words, if the actual figure is less than 4 this figure is used, however, when the figure is bigger than 4 then 4 is used.
Here are just some examples of the points assigned to particular foods:
