Weight Watchers Family Power:
5 Simple Rules for a Healthy-Weight Home

Weight Watchers has been with us for a long time and is a fabulously successful commercial diet program which concentrates on balancing exercise, low fat nutrition and guidance.

Items of food are given a points score and members make use of a points calculator and a wide range of recipes which are provided by the program.

Members also attend counseling session in their home area to get both ideas and advice and to help with the lifestyle changes which accompany not just this but any diet plan. Members can also get online support together with online points calculators and menus.

As if this were not enough, Weight Watchers produce their own line of meals that you can get through a number of the larger grocery chains.

A points score is allotted to a variety of foods according to the size of the portion, the number of calories, the amount of fiber and the amount of fat in each serving. Generally, high fat foods have a high points score and high fiber foods have a low points score. The daily allowance for dieters then depends upon such things as body weight and target weight.

The points formula is as follows:

Where: p = Points | c = Calories | f = Fat Grams | r = Dietary fiber Grams

(Please note: in the term (min{r, 4}) a maximum of 4 grams of fiber are used in the calculation. So, if the actual figure is under 4 this figure is used, but, if the figure is greater than 4 then 4 is used.

Below you can see some examples of the points scores assigned to particular foods:
