International Weight Watchers has been around for many years now and has proved to be a tremendously successful commercial diet program that concentrates on a balance of exercise, low fat nutrition and counseling.

A wide range of different foods are allotted a points score and Weight Watchers members make use of a points calculator and recipes that are provided by the program.

Generally speaking, foods which are high in fat have a high points score and foods which are high in fiber have a low points score. A dieter's daily allowance is then dependent upon things like body weight and target weight.

The formula for calculating a points value is as follows:

Where: p = Points | c = Calories | f = Fat Grams | r = Dietary fiber Grams

(Note: in the term (min{r, 4}) a maximum of 4 grams of fiber are used in the calculation. So, if the actual dietary figure is under 4 this figure is used, but, if the figure is more than 4 then 4 is used.
