Weight Watchers has been around for many years now and is a fabulously successful commercial diet program which centers on balancing exercise, low fat nutrition and guidance.
Different foods are given a points value and members use a points calculator and simple to follow recipes that are provided by the program. A points value is allotted to foods according to the portion size, the calories that portion contains, the amount of fiber and the amount of fat in each serving. As a rule, foods which are high in fat have a high points value and foods which are high in fiber have a low points value. The daily allowance for dieters then depends on such things as his or her body weight and the desired weight loss.
The points formula is:

Where: p = Points | c = Calories | f = Fat Grams | r = Dietary fiber Grams
(Please note: when considering the term (min{r, 4}) a maximum of 4 grams of fiber are used in the calculation. In other words, if the actual dietary figure is under 4 then this figure is used, however, if the figure is more than 4 then 4 is used.
