instructions for weight watchers core diet
Different foods are given a points value and members use recipes and a points "calculator" provided by the program.
Members are also encouraged to visit counseling sessions held locally for advice and ideas and to assist with the changes in lifestyle which naturally accompany any diet program. Support is also provided online, in addition to online menus, calculators and recipes.
Additionally, Weight Watchers have their own line of meals that can be purchased through many larger grocery chains.
The points value assigned to foods is based upon the size of the portion, the amount of fiber, the quantity of fat and the number of calories in each serving. As a rule, high fat foods have a high points value and high fiber foods have a low points value. The daily allowance for members is then dependent upon such things as body weight and the desired weight loss.
The points formula is as follows:

Where: p = Points | c = Calories | f = Fat Grams | r = Dietary fiber Grams
(Note: in the term (minr, 4) a maximum of 4 grams of fiber is used in the calculation. In other words, if the actual figure is less than 4 this is used, but, in cases where the figure is larger than 4 then 4 is used.
Here are some examples of the points assigned to specific foods:
