Weight Watchers Simply the Best:
250 Prizewinning Family Recipes

Weight Watchers has been around for many years and has proved itself to be a hugely successful commercial diet program that centers on balancing exercise, low fat nutrition and counseling.

Different foods are given a points score and members make use of a points calculator and hundreds of great recipes which are provided by the program.

Participants also attend counseling session in their home area to get both advice and ideas and to assist with the lifestyle changes that go along with not just this but any diet program. There is also online support as well as online points calculators and menus.

To further help participants, Weight Watchers have their own line of meals which can be purchased through many of the larger grocery chains.

A points score is given to various foods based upon the portion size, the calories that portion contains, the quantity of fiber and the quantity of fat contained in every serving. Generally speaking, high fat foods will have a high points score and foods which are high in fiber will have a low points score. A dieter's daily allowance is then dependent on such things as body weight and target weight.

The formula for calculating a points value is:

weight watchers formula

Where: p = Points | c = Calories | f = Fat Grams | r = Dietary fiber Grams

(Note: in the term (min{r, 4}) no more than 4 grams of fiber are used in the calculation. In other words, if the actual dietary figure is less than 4 this figure is used, however, where the figure is more than 4 then 4 is used.

Here you will find a few examples of the points values assigned to certain foods:
