Weight Watchers Family Power:
5 Simple Rules for a Healthy-Weight Home

International Weight Watchers has been around for a long time and has proved to be a hugely successful diet program that concentrates on balancing exercise, low fat nutrition and counseling.

Different foods are given a points score and Weight Watchers members use a points calculator and simple to follow recipes that are provided by the program.

Members are also encouraged to attend counseling session in their local area to get ideas and advice and to help with the lifestyle changes that go along with not just this but any diet plan. Members can also get online support as well as online menus and points calculators.

In addition, Weight Watchers make their own range of meals that you can purchase at a lot of the larger grocery chains.

A points score is allotted to foods based upon the portion size, the calories that portion contains, the amount of fiber and the amount of fat in each serving. In general, foods which are high in fat will have a high points score and foods which are high in fiber will have a low points score. A dieter's daily allowance is then dependent on such things as his or her body weight and amount of weight loss he or she wishes to achieve.

The points formula is as follows:

Where: p = Points | c = Calories | f = Fat Grams | r = Dietary fiber Grams

(Note: when considering the term (min{r, 4}) a maximum of 4 grams of fiber are used in the calculation. For instance, if the actual figure is less than 4 this figure is used, however, where the figure is over 4 then 4 is used.

Below are just a few examples of the points values given to particular foods:
