Weight Watchers Family Power: 5 Simple Rules for a Healthy-Weight Home

Weight Watchers Family Power:
5 Simple Rules for a Healthy-Weight Home

International Weight Watchers has been with us for a long time and has proved itself to be a tremendously successful diet program that concentrates on a balance of exercise, low fat nutrition and counseling.

Food is allotted a points score and members use a points calculator and recipes which are provided by the program.

Participants are also encouraged to attend counseling session in their home area for both ideas and advice and to help with the lifestyle changes that go along with not just this but any dieting program. There is also online support together with online menus and calculators.

Additionally, Weight Watchers make their own range of meals which may be purchased at many of the bigger grocery chains.

A points score is allotted to a variety of foods according to the portion size, the number of calories, the amount of fiber and the amount of fat in each serving. Normally, high fat foods have a high points score and high fiber foods have a low points score. The daily allowance for dieters is then dependent on such things as body weight and the desired weight loss.

The formula for calculating a points value is as follows:

weight watchers formula

Where: p = Points | c = Calories | f = Fat Grams | r = Dietary fiber Grams

(Please note: in the term (min{r, 4}) no more than 4 grams of fiber are used in the calculation. For example, if the actual figure is under 4 this figure is used, but, where the figure is more than 4 then 4 is used.

Here you will find some examples of the points given to certain foods:
